I've always found it to be heartbreaking that Marilyn so desperately yearned to be a mother, and we get a glimpse of her as "Mommy" here. It's a mother-daughter love story packaged in the iconography of Marilyn Monroe and the mysticism and mythology of Mt Shasta: the "root chakra of the world" and home to my daughter and me for 2 years during the apocalypse. In this time of divisiveness and fear, I believe that it is an artist’s highest calling is to model a way through the dark. My Mommy Marilyn is a love note to my daughter and my hero’s journey and our enduring collective humanity.
